I have found a couple "reps" selling it online. The part number is #W5562 and the cheapest I have found was $335 including shipping to my door (yours may be more/less) on E-Bay. Other reps on the internet are of course higher...

 

I finally got the Volant intake. I installed it in about an hour Wed night. It's pretty easy to install once you figure out where everything goes, there were no instructions or even pictures of the assembled unit. If you reverse engineer the stock airbox you figure out pretty fast how it goes together.

It gives a little better throttle response at all speeds, but the main improvement is in power across the whole band. Overall I'm happy with the system. I did notice that the mass air sensor is a major source of restriction for the tahoe, I ordered a performance replacement from Jet Performance. We'll see what happens when I have it all done.

Ok, I got the pics of it installed, I should have taken some while I took the stock one out, sorry. Here is a description of what I did:

1. Loosen the boot attached to the stock air box disconnect the mass air sensor from the air box.
2. Take the filter cover off the filter box using a star (6 point) driver (a small flat head screwdriver that will wedge into the slots works just as well), remover filter. You should be able to pull up on the box and it will pop off the rubber mounts.
3. Using a 10 mm socket remove all 4 bolts holding the black metal support from the vehicle.
4. Unplug sensor wire leading to mass air sensor. Remove mass air sensor noting the arrows and mounting position (this is reinstalled with the new intake).
5. Pull up on the "Vortech" cover on top of the engine, it will pop off the rubber mounts, slide forward to remove from vehicle (this is reinstalled also).
6. Locate small plastic hose that connects to the backside of the stock intake, follow it back towards the heads, pull forward, it will pop off a metal hose fitting.
7. Loosen the clamps at the throttle body and pull off throttle body, the whole plastic intake should come out in one long strange looking piece - including the portion that runs along top of the engine.
8. Take new Volant rubber hose (approx 6 inches or shorter) attach it to the hose fitting where you removed the plastic hose.
9. Take new Volant air box and supplied bolts and 2 washers (lock washer goes on first, than larger washer) and thread them into the holes where the stock air box mount used to be. Put each one in very loose, the holes in the Volant didn't line up exactly, but with some finesse, they will fit. Once all are threaded, tighten with 10 mm socket (the stock air box has a foam seal that fits against the body and the box, I tried to use it on the volant, but it does not fit).
10. Attach large volant silicone hose to the small end of the plastic volant intake. Attach round gasket (or seal, whatever you want to call it) to the large end of the intake. Attach the large end of the intake to the throttle body (the rubber gasket will slide onto the throttle body easily, tighten clamp so the intake doesn't slide off throttle body if jiggled gently.
11. Attach stock mass air sensor between air box and silicone hose - you have to shove the hose up onto the intake for it to fit. Tighten with clamps so the whole intake is snug.
12. Attach small rubber hose to backside of the intake.
13. Install filter and tighten with clamp, attach lid to the intake.
14. Replace Vortech cover opposite of taking it off.

Everything fits pretty well, if someone got the kit with instructions and see a flaw in my process, please let me know, I put it together the way it looks like it should be installed - it works well. If you want to really go big, you can find a gasket to seal the air at the fender, and you can cut the inside of the fender as large as the intake opening - i was too chicken to cut the metal - you will see what I mean when you put the new air box in place.

Let me know if you need clearer directions, but like I said, I didn't really know what I was doing, and I finished it in just under an hour, I'm a little bit of a gearhead, but if you have a socket set and know how to use it, this should be no problem for anyone.

Did you notice any change in the level of induction noise?

 

Actually you can hear a little more noise, the sound of air sucking when you jump on it, but you have to listen for it. I did notice that the exhaust sounds a little louder in the engine cabin, most likely it's the increased engine noise from the intake coupled with the increased exhaust note from the aftermarket exhaust.

Hey everyone,

I recently put an airraid system in my 07 LTZ 4x4. I can feel the difference. Looking to get the new Flashpaq, gibson headers, but I have not decided on the exhaust. Thanks for the info. no update as far as MPG. I do have 4.10 gears instead of the 3.73. Before I put the airraid system it did have good acceleration off the line, but now I can feel much more sooner. Torque with 4.10 gears are great, so if you can change them do it.

 

i got my Chevy cold air intake, a replacement for my intake system from a very trustworthy dealer, they have lots of parts for various models at a resasonable price.

 

Can you get another intake at a very reasonable price?

did you notice any improvment with the Jet Powr-flo mass air sensor installed? i was thinking about getting one too. i have a volant cold air intake as well.
