'07 Tahoe Hood Dents
Hi, new to the forum, I just picked up my '07 LT this past Friday. As I waxed it on Saturday, I discovered a ding in the front part of the hood just before the bend. I called the salesman; he siad he would call me back. I did a search on the forum and discovered a thread concerning the issue back when these vehicles first showed up on the lot. I wondered if there was any further info on this - is GM paying for the dent removal and a fix for the way the hood is so hard to close (since apparently that is where the dents come from)? My vehicle is one that was sitting on the dealer's lot for quite some time, so if there is a fix this truck probably hasn't seen it.
yhea that was an issue a couple of months ago. and it was from the struts making hard for the hood to close. but i i think that form what i remmber that dave said(zx), gm knew about the problem and the dealer should take care of it.
I found the best way to close the hood w/o denting was to pull it down slowly 'til about 8"-10" left, then with both hands you can fairly easily close it since you have a lot more leverage on the gas springs (struts).
Long time no talk Dave! Dave is the expert and behind 99% of the knowlede on this forum, but I disagree with the comment that you have to slam the hell out of the hood to get the dents.
I had them in my tahoe. I may have caused some of the dents (only god knows how because I am meticulous about even touching the paint), but I know for a fact that my chevrolet mechanics put some in there too.
My dealer wouldnt pay for the fix, i had a dentless repair done and they removed them perfectly. Good luck and it is just your hands causing the dents nothing else. Just make sure your hands are below the bend in the hood. Dont put any fingers above the bend, or should I say on top of the bend. I had no problems when i kept my hands below the bend. But IMO it is a ****ty design. I do have to say the Tahoe is a remarkable vehicle, but the hood/stru design is a flaw IMO. Good luck!

Landon,
Truth be known I'll wager a large bet that you weren't the one that dented your hood.
And fact of the matter is that if you are careful you will not dent the hood, now when you take it in for service most mechanics are anything but careful.

those dents are caused by the shock not allowing the hood close and so people close the hood with the palm of their hand. I have fixed pleanty of these hoods. i am a paintless dent removal technician.
