Hey guys.
I was planning on doing some upgrades to my truck, but after researching some mods I have come across mixed reviews since I'm going to be towing.

I want a beefy engine, but I will be towing an 8000lb travel trailer and some folks are telling me that doing a cam wouldnt' be a good idea.

What can I do to get it pretty quick, I want to have some stop light to stop light capability.

My plan was cam, intake manifold, headers, exhaust, intake, small lift, and a tune.

That should be ok for towing shouldn't it?
BTW, I just sold my Duramax, so maybe my outlook on what I "want to do" may not be possible. My Dmax was fast in a race, towed great, best of both worlds. I think the old GMC big block can do the same just with more fuel. Am I wrong?

 

You can go with a cam that has low end torque but I would not do headers
( higher heat loss ) but open up the exhaust. You would need hi-flow TBI injectors and bump fuel pressure up (Stock is 9 to15 psi on TBI) I would go for 20psi or what the replacement injectors called for. JM TWC
