Default 1996 with only high speed fan working

I'll try this again...in the correct section.
Hello all. Just bought a 1996 <nobr style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 100%; color: darkgreen;" id="itxt_nobr_0_0">4x4</nobr> with SEVERAL issues. I guess I'll start a thread for each, or is it better to ask them all in one thread?

On my drive home last night with it after purchase from an individual, I noticed that the front fan only works on High, and makes a horrible noise at first.

Don't know if it matters or not, but I also don't have any heat coming from the front. Seems to be blowing out the rear controls warm, but not the front.

I read somewhere that maybe a resistor is out on the fan?

Just looking for somewhere to start the investigation. I have tools and a multimeter, just not use to <nobr style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 100%; color: darkgreen;" id="itxt_nobr_4_0">Chevy's</nobr>.

Thanks.

definitely sounds like a combination of a worn fan motor (noise) & bad resistor.....both relatively EZ fixes....

That's what I was figuring. Figured out also that the heater core is leaking. On to the next problem.
