Default 1997 Suburban FUSE 8 crank mystery

My 1997 Suburban cranks and starts properly. If I pull FUSE 8 (labeled crank), the truck won't start. So far, so good. This is proper behavior.

However, when I test a FUSE 8 contact in the fuse box on the side of the dash with my 12v probe, the probe indicator does NOT light up. Why? The probe indicates 12v for all my other fuses. The probe works fine.

Might need to turn the ignition key ON. If it ain't broke..........................

Default TRIED YOUR IDEA OILCANHENRY, but...

With the key in BOTH the accessories ON position AND also after the car starts, the FUSE 8 contact still does NOT light the 12v probe. Weird. I know you recommended that, "if it's not broken don't play around," but this is going to bother me. Any other ideas? Anyone?

The fuse probably only gets power while the key is in START position.

Default Will test FUSE 8 with your start position idea

If so, a55Bruce, then the fuse will be live for a brief moment during starting, and the probe will light briefly. I'll test your idea and report the results in case others are interested. Thanks, oilcan and bruce.
