Default 1999 Brakes

I have 147000 miles on her. The brakes suck. I just replaced rear shoes, and front pads. Why is the pedal still spongy, and go so far down when pressed? Thanks

when you repplaced the rear shoes....did you set up the adjusters?
did you also remove the pins from the front calipers and lube them up?

Mines the same, it sucks. Alot of people is telling me to replace the brake lines with stainless steel, so I went ahead and bought a set from tirerack.com. I will be replacing it this weekend. I also got me the severe duty Hawk pads as well for the front. I will let you all know the results.

shawnvw <--- good comment on removing pins to lube it, I will make sure I do that.

On my 98 Burban the only thing that helped the spongy feeling was bleeding the rear brake line and replacing with new fluid. I can't explain it, just know that it worked!
