1999 suburban burning coolant
Ok so I am definitely burning coolant in #6. So here's the question. Is it possible that it's only the intake gasket and how would I tell for sure? Also If the head gasket is bad how would I tell? The other head gasket was replaced 2 years ago along with the intake gasket. It was the standard not the upgrade on the intake.

Just an update on the saga. I ended up pulling the intake after tests were inconclusive. The intake gasket was crap, leaking badly. I decided to replace it with the upgrade one and see what happens. It seems to have worked, the burbie idles pretty well and the SES light has not come back on. I drove it about 400 miles a few days after the repair and the only problem was a coolant hose from the pump to the aux heat line had a pin hole that sprayed coolant into the fan and all over the motor (Yipee!). So I am going to see but at this point all is well. So now on to that tapet noise at start up.
