Default 2000 Suburban 1500 Autoride Compressor

When my rear shocks sprung an air leak, I let the air compressor run until it finally died. Now that I finally replaced the shocks, I need a compressor. Instead of being mounted in the back like all the other years, my compressor is under the rocker panel on the right frame rail. When I search for a compressor, they all list for 2001 and above, which leads me to believe mine is different. I checked the typical GM OEM sites, and they say my part has been discontinued. Could the components be the same between mine and later years, but sold under a different part number because the total assembly is "packaged" differently to fit under the rear instead of the side like mine? Mine is a California car, and is really clean underneath so I don't think I need everything, I just need the motor.

Does anyone know how I might find a replacement part? Or, maybe have other ideas like how I might rebuild the compressor motor, or...?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or even creative thinking.

I have the same problem with my 2000 Tahoe. It appears the Suburban is similar to the Tahoe with a single year style compressor. I started a thread before I read yours. Hopefully we can find some help.

From my research, it looks like we can buy the compressor separately. That said, I have only looked at the setup under my car and it LOOKS like the compressor itself can be swapped out of the assembly, although I have not yet removed mine from the vehicle. Have you removed yours from your Tahoe?

You might want to read the original post. Your application does not apply, but thanks for posting.

Happy New Year Mr. Leadfoot, I have removed the compressor as I purchased the one recommended through part stores. The part number is the same for all parts even though the 2000 is specific. The mounting and wiring is different between the compressor I removed and the replacement compressor. I can't get a straight answer on whether or not I can modify the replacement to work.
