Default 2001 1500 Burb

Last year I started noticing a slight ticking sound when I would put a load on the burb. Like passing oor pulling a big hill etc. The other day out of the blue it got much worse. Most of the time below 50mph youdon't notice it but above that it is getting very loud. It sounds like it is coming from just below the fuel injectors. I forgot the way the cylinders are numbered but it is coming from the drivers side either the 1st or 2nd cylinder from the front of the vehicle. It is the 2wd v8. How hard is it to tear it down to the valve springs.

Also, is there any way to diagnose the problem without tearing it down. I have Sea foamed it with a full can and it didn't help

It could be valve lash, something else to consider is a connecting rod cap but that would be heard more at the bottom of the engine...

On hydraulic lifters, you adjust 'til the clatter stops and then 1 1/2 turns beyond that to center the lifter plunger in the lifter body.

Do the adjusting while the engine is idling.

And you can get clips that cover the squirter holes in the rocker arms and it cuts down on the mess.

Not sure what you are referring to. I counted five answers, none of which were other than legitimate suggestions.

Or did you mean this was the first time you actually got help?

Hopefully the latter.
