Did you ever find the resolution to this problem. I have 01 Suburban and replaced the tensioner and belts because the AC was not working. The AC is back and now the clicking noise persists when accelerating. Sounds like plastic on plastic, as if you held something against a platic room fan. No noise when the AC is off. Any insight?

Default Still have screech

After they put on the second AC tensioner and belt it started screeching again. I have researched this and come up with I need to replace the ac compressor. I am going to get the ac compressor, tensioner and belt replaced this weekend.

Will let you know..Annoying..

My screech noise was also the compressor. It was cooling great but with the loud noise. The ended yesterday, the compressor died. I was looking on ebay for a new kit,,,compressor, dryer, orfice tube, oil, o-rings ,,,etc for abour $300...... My question is are these compressors off of ebay china made? or inferior quality? Does anybody have a better suggestion about where to buy a compressor kit? Want to avoid the dealer due to $$ if possible.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Have you listened w/ the hood open to see if you can tell where the noise is coming from?

Advance Auto used to sell lifetime guaranteed A/C compressors. Not sure if they still do.

dalkins I don't know where you are in Texas but you might check with A-Line auto parts as I think they have a kit for most Chevy's for about $400...

Default A/C Compressor, Now dash switch

As most of us figured out it was the compressor. It is fixed now BUT, I have another problem. The actual AC button on the dash, when turned off does not disengage the compressor. The AC remaion on. I will look for other like issues on this board and may make another post. Please let me know if anyone has similar problem or resolutions. Thanks.

I don't think the compressors have anything to do with china coz one of my folks bought one off ebay and there's nothing Chinese about it but I think buying online is more expensive especially if you have to bear the shipping.
