Default 2001 Tahoe Problem with my power locks.

I did a forum/internet search and could not find anything on this, hope you guys can help.

Yesterday my 2001 Tahoe's lock started acting up.

When i push the lock side of my power locks, on any door even the rear hatch, nothing happens. No sounds, no movment(at any of the 5 doors), not even a clicking noise from the fuse panel.

Yes i checked all the fuses and relays- think i did anyways.

When i push the UNLOCK on my power locks, again at any door even the rear hatch, i can hear the silanoids try to move but there is no movment(again at any of the 5 doors). I can hear a click sound coming from the fuse box.

In either case i can not lock/unlock my doors--with the power locks or the remote keyless for that matter. The key still works tho.

The security system(factory) seems to be arming it's self now when i close all the doors.

The whole thing is acting as if the lock button is stuck down. But i have removed and unpluged all the lock/unlock buttons at both the driver and pass door. And reseated the wires. I have not replaced any of the relays but i did pull the one under the hood and moved the 4 of them around testing....no way i could have 4 relays go at the same time, right??

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great thx.

if you need more info let me know.

It sounds like there is a short on the lock side of the switch. Since you have pulled apart the door panel and reseated the switch, you may want to actuate the door lock switch, while inserting a test lightor voltmeter into the circuit and testing for power.

Since you note that the unlock is firing the relay, you may want to manually lock the door and see if the unlock moves the door lock actuator. If it does, there may be a short only on the lock side.

Once you prove that there isn't 12 volts at the switch for lock, you need to trace the wire back to the find the short. More than likely it is at the driver's side door hinge.

Electrical problems are always fun to repair. Good luck with the repair.
