Default 2003 Tahoe 4x4 Transmission HOT warning light

Okay guys, I hav spend 6 hours reading forms and all I can say is WOW I have learned a lot.

I have a 2003 Chevy Tahoe LS 4X4, July of 2010 we had to replace the transfer case, took hubby 1 and half day to do..no biggie..fixed problem.

NOW, OUT OF THE BLUE..hubby was driving down the interstate and the TRANSMISSION HOT warning light came on, so he pulled right off and turned off the engine, waited about 5 mins(should of been longer) and restarted the SUV, he said the light was off...so he drove and said it was feeling shaking, very faint in acceleration. So as he was going up the ramp onto the interstate, the SUV has no gears...lost drive, engine runs smoothly and good. So I told him not to drive it home we will get it towed, so he did..and when he got it home, he started up again..battery was dead due to hazor lights was on all the way home, so we jumped it...and it started up..put it in the line of gears..Reverse..okay got it...Neutral is fine hard it engage, Drive NOTHING, engine just revs and WONT move..so we try the other low gears and nothing.

So you might has how long we have had this tahoe, 2 years..and man its always something i tell ya..have we changed the trans fluid(ever?) no, but we did check it and it was reddish/purplish color and full so its not leaking. We checked the radiator fluid, which is it suppose to be thick like that? It was kinda low, so we topped it off with some unverial radiator fluid and got it to its right level. So again, we started the SUV ..started good..put it in reserve to put it into our parking spot and it lost reverse too.

So my question is, is it the TCC the lockup solenoid, the torque converter, Is it that we just need to change the filter and trans oil and clear out the lines? Is it sensors. I don't know guys but will keep on reading.

Where do I start first.....

Thanks, HUGS
