Default 2004 Chevy Tahoe not shifting into overdrive

I have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe. Today I noticed it all of the sudden it would not shift into overdrive. I can manually shift from 1 to 2 to 3 and then into overdrive but when I do the transmission doesn't actually shift into overdrive. It stays in 3rd. It only goes up to 45 or 50 mph at 3500 to 4000 rpm even when I shift it manually. I am leaning more toward the shift solenoid for overdrive. I would like to know if anyone has had this problem and what their fix was. I am fixing to drop the pan and change the solenoid. I will revise this thread if it fixes my problem.

Get it scanned first before wasting time and money to see what codes may be stored .

I know of no situation where this trans would not be able to shift into only 4th gear. no 2nd and 4th means 2-4 band is slipping. No 1st and 4th means Shift A solenoid is bad. No 3rd or 4th means forward sprag is broken. No 2nd, 4th or reverse means broken sunshell.
