Default 2004 Tahoe w/ loose mirrors

Wife picked up a 2004 Tahoe recently and I noticed that the outside mirrors no longer have a firm detent in the normal position which allows them to move back and forth a little. Haven't torn into them yet but thinking something has gone awry with spring mechanism.

Any ideas?

Marc,
Have you tried power folding and unfolding the mirrors 3 times?

They're manual. You can move them (the whole mirror housing) back and forth about 20 degrees with no resistance.

They're power folding mirrors if it's the same Tahoe that you sent me the VIN to (damn thing has every option in the book).
You just have to center the mirror select switch and then push the inside part of the square mirror adjuster pad, slightly different than the 07 Tahoe power mirror in operation.

You're so right. Worked like a champ. First time retracted, there was a snap noise like something re-engaged. Should have read the manual. I thought the 2003 had a separate switch like the 2007 but maybe not. Anyway thanks for the info.
