Red face 2004 Tahoe Z71 Emerg Brake Light stays, chime stay on Constantly while EB

My 2004 Chevy Tahoe Z71 has a severe problem! I've searched this forum..most posts are so old & I cannot find an answer. I need guidance!

My Parking Brake Warning Light and Chimes (from radio) stay on
constantly!!! It was an all of a sudden problem. One day I set parking brake, did my shopping, released it and ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, & red warning sign on dash indicates it's still set. It never goes away.

In order to stay sane, I pulled the fuse to the radio to get the chimes to stop chiming, the PB red light continues to blink on and off on dash.
How do I fix this?

Also...my gear display goes dim to off and yes, if I hit the plastic dash, I might get a faint PRND321

I've had dash cluster display replaced at dealership due to recall years ago.
Most pressing is this Parking Brake issue, how can I get directly to the problem without spending tons of money on troubleshooting. I have to pay someone, cannot really do the work myself. I miss my radio and CD's but heck, it was a way to not go insane from the CHIME!!!
thanks for any help...

Other then checking the fluid level in the reservoir; there is no cheap way. It needs to be properly diagnosed.

Thanks for your response, but properly diagnosed means ? to me?
I have read about 10 different ways to go about this...all of which could
cost tons of money.
I want to hear from owners who have had this problem and the way they got it fixed.

Welcome to the forum.

Have you tried pulling back on the Parking Brake pedal while holding the release handle?

Hi, I will try that today. What are you wanting me to discover in this proceedure? If you could finsih the thought as to the ends of what you're looking for in your comment, I can get back to you with what happens when I do this.
I have been searching the internet and this seems to be a common problem. Is the PB Switch the same as a PB sensor There is plenty of brake fluid, no air in the lines, My cable is NOT broken, The brakes are NOT engaged when I drive, thus I can drive the vehicle safely, just the PB red warning light blinks continually. The Chime would be going continually, but I pulled the fuse on the radio to cut that out. Don't tell the sate of Calif.....it's connected to the seatbelt law and the only way to get rid of the loud chime is to change out the factory installed Radio, which I am not going to do.
Let's keep working on this, thank so much!

Part 2 Put the 15 amp Radio Fuse back in

Did what you asked.. at 15 mph, pulled the up on the Emerg Brake Pedal and the emerg brake release handle at the same time and no change
stopped Tahoe, put in park, Tahoe is On, No blinking light and no chime

PB Pedal is depressed, PBP now released Red Warning Light on Continuous
In Reverse, regular brake pressed in, No Chime
Reverse, 5 mph, Chime ON and warning light blinks (my PB is NOT on)
In Drive at 5 mph, Chime is ON and warning light begins to blink
Chimes do stop ringing when I am at a complete stop.
The light is NOT the ABS light or Anti-Lock light
It is this ((!))((P)) Brake System Warning Light
BRAKE

I think what 73shark may have been getting at is that the parking brake active switch may be the problem, by pulling back on the pedal it may fully engage the switch and make it go off....

I would check the switch at or near the top of the brake pedal and see if it is working correctly....

I agree, I think after playing around with it yesterday, it's the
parking brake switch.
What's the best website or place to buy one of these?

GMpartsdirect.com, Amazon.com if you know the part number, or go to your local dealership and have it in your hands today....
