Default 2004 Z-71 Suburban Engine Noise

Hello Chevy Forum! I have a 04' suburban z 71 with a funny noise in the engine compartment. It sound as though it could be a belt squeek but isn't. It is a steady noise and appears to be coming from the engine on the passenger side. I took a piece of hose and stuck inside the oil filler tube, and it seems to be coming from inside. I have pulled the valve covers and it is oiling through all of the push rods and doesn't seem to have a bent one? A friend told me it could be a bad lifter but at this point, I am lost. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all for your time in advance, this forum has been a great tool for me!!!! Mike

ps. forgot to mention it has 131,000 miles. Engine is really clean.

I tried both belts already and thanks for the comment. I also pulled both valve covers off and really didn't see anything. Engine is very clean with no build up. Almost sounds like a push rod rubbing the head on an older motor???

Could be the belt tensioner. These things produce a strange squeak. I found this to be the culprit most of the time. last time I thought I had a bad fuel pump, the sound throws that far under the truck. then I though a belt, lifter. etc. Turns out it was the belt tensioner going bad. happened to me twice.

sometime these things squeak when the truck will start up for a few minutes. replace the tensioner and see if it goes away. if not, check your water pump.

Doubt it's the tensioner since he said he pulled the belts and it still made the noise.

could be a bad spring on the lifter itself. thats the only thing I think would squeak like that.
