OK, I have a 2005 Tahoe. The front heater blower stopped working. Before it quit, it was squeaking some and it would intermittently stop and start again. So, I replace the blower. It worked at first but after a couple days, did the intermittent off-on thing a couple times and now quit working again. What could cause this? Seems like if the resistor was bad the new blower would not have worked at all.
Thanks.
Thanks.

If old one was making noise the bearings in it was probably binding up. That can stress the resistor and/or it's connectors with excessive power draw. Check its connections for heat damage/discoloration and repair them and replace resistor.

OK, here was our situation. 2005 Yukon Denali, almost 200K miles, front blower motor was working intermittently, fine sometimes, sometimes not at all, sometimes stayed on after the key was out !!!
Being Arizona summer, I knew Mrs. Cusser would get her panties all wadded up if I tried to fix the intermittent, so we took it our independent mechanic I trust and use like once per year. He said his experience led him to always replace both the resistor and the fan motor together in this situation, as one could damage the other. So he did, worked fine for a few years until we sold it.
And Mrs. Cusser was happy and took her panties off....

I hope not; but turn everything on and see if the new blower motor is getting positive voltage.
I would guess (from my experience with Mazda truck and 1982 Firebird) that you remove the new blower motor and even test that by jumping to the vehicle battery directly.
