2007 suburban electrical question
Hi all. I'm in the process of finalizing the installation of a second battery in my Suburban.
I have installed my second battery, all wire (2AWG), 200amp fuses (1 fuse @ 20 inches from each battery), 200A Islator (approximately centered betweenbatteries). Isolator is powered (5 amp fuse) and grounded as well (not that it matters for my question(s).
At this point everything is good to go other then me hooking the wires to the batteries. Due to the funky positive (+/red) battery terminal GM uses (apparently its listed as "Starter Solenoid Wiring Harness Connector") there's no decent way to simply attach my cable. So my thought was to clean and drill a 1/4" hole through the plate and using a brass 1/4-20 bolt so I can bolt the new cable to it. This would give me the simplest way to connect it (unless someone thinks otherwise).
My concern is drilling through the plate and possibly disrupting the flow of electricity during starting. Maybe it's a mute point, but figured I'd ask.
Thanks
F
