Tahoe & SuburbanThe power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.
Hello, a 2007 LTZ Suburban 4x4 is listed for $5k locally, 140kmi 1-Owner and looks to be in perfect shape in and out. Ad says no issues with the vehicle. I’m familiar with the AFM problems but was curious what the thoughts were if this is a good vehicle to consider? I’m looking for a 3rd car as my oldest is at driving age so we need another car. At $5k this seems hard to beat? Thoughts?
The price seems good. Personally I would get an AFM disabler, but if the vehicle is still running well now, maybe it has an engine without the cylinder deactivation technology? My son-in-law has a 2008 Denali (the GMC version), and his 6.2L engine does not have the AFM nonsense.
The other question will be if the transmission has been maintained and had the fluid changed at 50,000 mile intervals. If so, it's probably good to go. I've got a 2006 Silverado with 134K on it, and a 1996 C1500 with 203K on it, both with original transmissions (and engines).

thanks for the reply. The 07 suburbans did have the AFM, however, the Denali’s and Escalades did not for 07-09 I believe. Yes the transmissions are an issue for sure but hopefully I can get a hold of the owner and see what the maintenance history has been.
Mrs. Cusser had a 2005 Yukon Denali with 6.0 engine and about 230K miles on it. The only reason she wanted to go newer was the "number" on the odometer scared her. She knows more about space travel and Harris' IQ than vehicles, but what could I do??? Anything that went bad on that vehicle would've been purely MY fault. You married guys will understand this.
Mrs. Cusser tows 2 horses/trailer sometimes, so needed more power than a 5.7 or 5.3 engine could deliver, why she had the Yukon Denali with 6.0 engine (had moved up from a 1994 Suburban with 5.7 engine). For the last 2 years she has a 2014 Yukon Denali with the 6.2 engine and I added a "clone" AFM disabler; this vehicle just passed 100K miles.
