Default 2007 tahoe with intermittent static in speakers?

The problem just started and comes and goes? If I turn the volume all the way down and certain speakers off the sound still comes through them while the noise is occurring. Also, can still hear it with a CD in. Doesn't seem related to speed or engine RPM's at all. Any ideas? It is the unit with the built in Navigation and XM.

It sounds like a bad ground or short. You can try disconnecting each speaker, one by one and seeing if you can isolate which speaker(s) are causing the problem. Unfortunately the amp is located under the console.

You may find that there is a wire in one of the doors that is shorting out. It may take some time to figure it out. If you find that you can not figure it out, your local car stereo shop should be able to help diagnose the problem.

Good luck with your repair

I agree with “mulmur1”, it sounds like you may have a short. I encourage you to consult with a certified technician for additional assistance. They will be able to offer more information after inspecting the vehicle.

If you need assistance locating a technician near you, please PM me your zip code for a listing.

Please keep us posted.
