2007 tahoe ltz dash has cracked????????
No they have revised the dash design to add stiffeners. But apparently they didnt roll the part number, so its anybodys guess if you will get the defective or new design.
I wonder if it was just old parts that were still in stock and were just being flushed out at the buyers expense
I would definitely want to pre-inspect any replacement part for said reinforcements...

OK guys...this is (sorta) big news, at least to me.
Just got pics from my dealer (Getting a new dash for $216 right now). The cracked dash HAS the stiffeners.
The new dash is the same, but the dealer said the material felt stiffer (whether they actually changed material is unknown).
So, the 'new' style can also fail. (Mine happened at 48k and is a 2010 avalanche).
My old dash:

And new dash that should be installed by 4pm today
:/

To me that demonstrates that some of the dashes are installed under stress. May be due to some of the mounting points in the chassis not be quite right. Or some vehicles have more body flex than others.
Since the mounting points seem to be slotted, maybe the mounting is supposed to allow movement to prevent stress.

Unfortunately, no I can't.
The Dealer did the swap (did it for less than part cost) but had to ship the old part to corporate warranty center (I actually worked there one summer lol - in Auburn Hills, MI).
I was lucky to have a dealer willing to photo the before/after for me.
As for it being under stress, I strongly believe it's a thermal problem with the material, there was a 1/4" vertical gap when it was -20F outside but would flatten out once the truck warmed up to temperature.

Owner of a 2010 Z71 Suburban with 55k miles, and just noticed two huge cracks in my dash. Thought my son might have been done this, until I stumbled upon this thread. I filed a complaint, and also sent GM service rep a PM. This should not be happening to a $60K truck.
