2007 tahoe ltz dash has cracked????????
I will tell you what has happened with me dealing with GM... I have a thread on here about my two cracks in my 2007 tahoe. I have been going back and forth for a month now with GM. I am told all they will pay is 50 percent of the cost.. Should I be happy with this..no and why cause of the reasoning they gave me of why they wouldn't pay the full amount. I am second owner. To me, it shouldn't matter if I was first or second owner. I told them the one crack that was in left hand corner of my airbag was a safety issue cause the cover over the actual air bag is coming up so who is to say it doesnt go off from the bounce of a bump or who is to say it even would function properly if I did need it to work. They said they didn't see a safety issue in that. My other crack is 10 inches long above the steering wheel which happened within a month. I asked the GM Rep to let me speak to someone higher up than her she told me she couldn't let me. I am getting my dash fixed tomorrow and I am having to pay half for it and am NOT pleased about that at all. I asked her how come some people on this forum that were second owners got 100 percent paid for she replied each case is handled on a case to case bases. I am not satisfied with GM or their quality of a vehicle. I owned a 2009 GM vehicle right before this one and had 6 things go wrong with it in a year and a half.. Sold it got my tahoe and I am back were I started again. Bad quality made vehicle and crappy customer services. So good luck with GM. I am done with GM for good!!!

Ptownfire I called GM direct first. Then took it to dealership to be looked at after I had already taken to a body shop to be looked at. I got mine repaired yesterday and paid 295.73. Yeah that's better than full price but the only reason they wouldn't pay full price is cause I was second owner. I don't think that should matter. They would not let me talk to anyone higher up than them to talk about my case with. But I will tell you something else this isn't the only problem with quality on my truck. The steering wheel is peeling, the control buttons are faded so bad u can't tell what button is for what, the chrome on door handles are coming off, the third row seating won't latch back like its suppose to, my passenger mirror sticks this was a poor quality made vehicle!!! But they sure didn't charge a poor quality price for it. Poor quality and poor customer services. Not a good combination.
I have forwarded my info to Louis( GM customer service on this site). I guess I will see where it goes. Im not counting on anything good coming out of it. I have been 100% ford man until now and I can tell you they're no better thats why I purchased this Tahoe. I bought it used so Im guessing not much help.
Here is my experience on getting my dashboard and door handles fixed.
Vehicle Info:
2007 Chevy Tahoe
68000 miles
I am the 2nd owner
Issue #1: Cracked Dash - One crack above the speedometer (5 inches) and another small crack on the back side (left hand corner -towards the windshield) of the airbag.
Issue #2: Door Handles peeling - Interior door handles (driver side and rear passenger) had the chrome peeling.
Chevy Dealership: Mark Christopher Auto Center - Ontario California
Thanks Louis (GM Customer Service), Ray (District Specialist) and Javier (Service Manager - Mark Christopher Auto Center)

- Sent a private message to Louis (Chevrolet Customer Service) with my information.
- Louis sent a private message stating that he setup a case for my issue and he will forward my case to a district specialist.
- A district specialist named "Ray" called and informed me that the next step is to schedule an appointment with my local Chevy dealer. Ray gave me his contact info and said he would call me back the next day to confirm that I got an appointment.
- I called the service department at Mark Christopher Auto Center and scheduled the appointment.
- Ray called the next day (as scheduled) and asked for the appointment info. I gave him the appointment time, Chevy dealer name and the service managers name (Javier). Ray informed me that he would call the service manager after the dealership inspected the vehicle. Ray scheduled a call back with me at noon the next day (after my appointment).
- I arrived at the dealer and ask for Javier (the service manager that scheduled my appointment). I let him know that I am in contact with a Chevy Rep and need him to inspect the cracked dashboard and peeling door handles. Javier inspects the cracks and the door handles and says he'll be back, he needs to speak with his supervisor. He returns and offers to fix it for $200. Knowing that Ray (district specialist) was going to call me later and thinking that there might be a chance I can get it repaired for free, I told Javier that I need to speak with the Chevy rep first before they repair it. So, I left the dealership... Note:Since I am the second owner, the service manager (Javier) updated my information on the computer as the new vehicle owner because it showed the original owner info when he entered the VIN.
- I receive a call from Ray at noon (as scheduled) and I inform him that the dealer offered $200 to fix the dash and door handles. He said he would call the Service Manager and see if he can get the total cost covered.
- I got a call from Ray later that afternoon with an offer from the dealership to fix it for $100. I accepted the offer. Ray said the next step is to schedule an appointment with the dealer to repair the dash and door handles. I called the Mark Christopher Chevrolet and asked for Javier. I got an appointment for the following morning.
- I arrived at the dealer and dropped off the Tahoe at 8:00 AM. Javier (service manager) called me at 3:00 PM (same day) and notified me that its ready for pickup.
- I arrived at the dealership and Javier (service manager) informs me it's ready and I can pay at the cashier. Paid the cashier $100. Got in the Tahoe and smiled when I noticed the NEW dash and door handles
- Ray called me back the next day to confirm everything was taken care of...<----Great Customer Service all around.

That is great to hear Flojos
thanks for sharing your positive experience!
You might want to post the name of the Dealership you used to get them some recognition and maybe throw them a bone with a scheduled maintenance service..
I know its a GM issue but a lot of the Dealerships are interdependently owned..

well i just bought a 07 ls tahoe about six months ago and two weeks after i bought it the dash cracks in the same place everyone is talking about plus the part under the steering wheel fell and wont snap back cause where it snaps on the dash is broken so now theres a big gap there. about three months ago the cd player goes out . so i replace it with aftermarket cuz aftermarket is better anyways and im an audio installer by trade and its not hard on this model but as im poping the trim around the radio,ac and cig. lighter i see that the cig.lighter and a/c are moving alot and they are screwed in so they shouldnt be moving at all come to find out the trim was holding them in cuz where the screws were screwed in to the dash was broken and cracked and i have worked on many new chevy vehicles and never have had this happen then today i was looking for something in the glovebox and the truck is still new to me so its not full of stuff so when i open i found piece of plastic in there that look like its fell from the dash so it looks like its just going to fall apart and i have only had it six month and now my handles are flaking and are kinda sharp ive called a couple service advisors and they say theres nothing they can do i have an 01 tahoe and it made me want another tahoe cuz i didnt have any problems with it

Did you purchase the vehicle from a dealership or from an independent lot?
I look forward to your reply.

GM Customer Service
Last night, after reading the latest additions here (and knowing that I'll soon be over the mileage limit for GM to cover the razor-blade door handles), I figured I'd better take some action.
Instead of beginning with my local dealer, I decided to take Louis up on his offer and PM'd the information on my '07 Suburban to him. That was at 6:35 PM, California time. He replied with a Service Request number at 8:00 (10 PM his time)--less than 90 minutes. This morning, Jose from Chevrolet Customer Assistance called me to arrange an inspection at my choice of dealerships. Victory Chevrolet-Cadillac in Petaluma, CA gets the nod, and while the truck is there I'll ask them to take care of some undone recall work and check the TSB for the crappy FM radio reception.
So now the ball's in my court. I just have to pick a convenient time to drop the truck off. I'm still a bit wary, because I'm a second owner--which for some people here has apparently meant "second-class citizen" in GM's eyes. Even worse, I bought my Chevrolet from a Ford dealer. But I'm definitely impressed with the prompt responses from both Louis and Jose.
To be continued...
