2007 Tahoe Navigations Issues....
I have the '07 Silverado LTZ with factory nav and it works great. I've used Garmin and others and even state of the art gps in my plane and the GM nav has put me right where I want to be with no problems every time. My wife has an '06 Mountaineer with nav and it works fine as well, but is a little slower than mine. Makes me think there's a bug in some - but not all GM navs.
Does anyone use the voice command feature and if so does it work? Everytime I try it comes back with something totally different then what I spoke for.. I really have not read up on this feature so maybe doing something wrong.
every time I go some place in a small town it want navigate all the way. It get me close and say it does not have all the info to get me there. But it show all the streets and the names on it. If i am going from Jackson,Ms to Hattiesburg, Ms it sends me to Meridian, Ms 90 miles out of the way.
I live on a rather large lake in FL and for kicks last night I plugged in the Outback Steakhouse that is about 1/2 way around the lake on the other side of the road from the lake. I pulled out of the driveway towards the right and in about 1/2 mile it told me to take the next right. I would have been swimming.
Have a 2008 LTZwith navigation and before that for years Iused a Garmin SP2730. About the same time we got the Tahoe the touch screen on the Garmin was going out probably from too many hot days on the dash so thought it was great we were getting built in nav.. I can tell you I much prefer the Garmin and may still end up buying another to sit up on the dash above the built in one. The thing is always telling you to make a legal U-turn for no reason at all. We have tried several times to use it on routes we drive often just to test it and it almost always tells you to make a turn someplace that sends you almost the other direction. Not sure if I am just spoiled by the Garmin or if the thing is just screwed up.
I have seen this problem that your truck is having with the nav unit. As a GM tech for the last 18 yrs I know exactky whats wrong with your nav unit. the onstar antenna is causing interfernce with your gps antenna, replacing it will solve your problem. The gm bullentin # is

<HR>The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment that when using the Navigation System the Navigation map is showing the incorrect location for the vehicle. Note: It is normal for the vehicle to display the No GPS symbol for up to 2 minutes when the vehicle is started or when the signal is obstructed by large/tall buildings or heavy foliage.
