I have a 2007 Tahoe LTZ with every option on it. I paid around $54k for the truck and within the last week the power running boards stopped working, the power lift gate stopped, been some squeaking from the motor area, accelerated weird at some times, the mpg has been going down. I have noticed the transmission slipping a little. I am really upset that this is only happening three months after getting the vehicle and there is only 7,200 miles on it.

the power liftgate and the steps might be related. It is not common to have these issues but there may be a good reason for them. It's still under warranty so you should be happy you're not going to pay for the fix. I know it sucks to waste time at the dealer but it would suck a whole lot more for them to break at 38,000 miles.

I have this exact same "muted horn" sound in my '07 LTZ. I am planning on taking it in next week to get serviced. The horn sound is driving me CRAZY!!! It's happening more and more. Has anyone else dealt with this issue and had a dealership successfully identify what it is caused by??? My transmission is also having problems. I notice it slips when pulling away from a non-complete stop, but more alarming to me is that when I come to a stop a few seconds later it feels like a am being gently rear ended....a slight thud. The other day it was a really hard thud and happened at least 30 seconds to a minute after I had already been sitting at a light. It seems to be more noticeable when I have a harder/faster stop than a nice slow down. Does this sound like the same problem everyone else has been having. Most of what I have researched so far seems to be the slipping upon take off. Also, when I have my ipod plugged into the audio jack I very often get a whistling sound....you can hear the pitch change with acceleration. Anyone have any thoughts on that. I am also having an issue with the A/C. It doesn't seem to be as cold as it should be initially and it has a mildewy smell to it. I also have the rear view molding issue to be resolved. What do you think the odds are of getting a loaner while it is in for all this??? I am a single mom of 3 boys---including 8 yr old twins that have All Star baseball practice every day of the week!!!! What am I going to do without a car!!!! if anyone has any thoughts to share with me I would appreciate it. At least if I know a little about what I am talking about they won't think they can screw me over!!!

Thanks so much everyone!!

I have an 07 Tahoe and after a few minutes of driving the truck makes a squealing/squeaking sound when accelerating at low speeds (driving through neighborhoods)[:'(]. Once at speed (~30 mph), the noise goes away. I have not noticed any performance changes associated with this noise.

There's a slightly older thread regarding this engine noise and hopefully we will have an update from the person that is getting their trucked inspected.

I belive this issue can be resolved by having the drive shaft splines lubricated, I had the exact same thing on my 97 tahoe always thought someone was bumping into me. Its compounded with hard stops and keeping your foot on the brake, seem to keep it "loaded" until you let off and then you get the bump.

I am also having an issue with the A/C. It doesn't seem to be as cold as it should be initially and it has a mildewy smell to it.

have the dealer check the schrader valveunder the hood, I had to have mine replaced. (this is not common so have them check out your AC system in general)
Ask about the "afterblow" feature and have it enabled to turn the blower on for a short period of time to dry out the AC condenser and eliminate the mildew.
read about it here https://chevroletforum.com/m_24485/tm.htm

What do you think the odds are of getting a loaner while it is in for all this???

If you are still under warrenty and the work being done is warrenty work, make an appointment to bring your vehiclein and get there early your chances of getting a loaner are very good. I was offered a loanerfor my AC repair mentioned above. I didnt need it as I had other arrangemetns but they were great about offering it without asking. (Champion Chevrolet in Austin Texas)

testdriv2001: Welcome to the Tahoe forum. I believe Dave explained that the bump you feeling is the tranny either downshifting late or unlocking the torque convertor. Can't remember which but you can try searching on "transmission bump".

I have read all of the previous posts and thank goodness I have not had some of the problems all of you are having....yet. HOWEVER...I'd like to see if any ofyou have noticed a high pitched whining sound coming from the Power steeringmodule or transmissionafter towing something heavy for a long distance or driving in the mountains. I took my 07 LTZ with about 20,000 miles on it into the dealer the other day andthey said that its normal for the transmission to make a high pitched sound when towing something heavy...I say thats BS and am planning to take it to another dealer in another town andsee what they say. Oh and I also have the rear window trim problem...I attempted to fix this myself by squeezing some epoxy glue down into the trim and holding it together with aquick grip clamp. It held for about 2 weeksthen it was back to sticking out again. Are the dealerships able to replace this trim successfully yet or is it a design flaw we are just going to have to live with? I hope the rest of you get your problems resolved because there still is not another vehicle out there that compares to the Tahoe.

If the trim you are referring to is the "hockey stick" trim on the rear doors, take it to the dealer as there was a fix for this.

Thumbs down 2007 Tahoe problems!

Well not impressed with Chevy's workmanship on this one.

1. Molding continues to fall off
2. Keeps going out of alignment
3. Interior is crap
4. Windows shake excessively when rolled down partially
5. Bumper molding keeps getting popped out
6. Most importantly KEEPS WARPING BRAKE ROTORS!!!

Does anyone know how to fix the brake problem on this vehicle? I am sick of replacing rotors every 25K miles! It seems like the brake system is not sturdy enough for the weight of the Tahoe.

  1. Door weather stripping continues to fall off
  2. Warped rotors
  3. GM LAN problems
  4. Battery rundown problem
  5. Engine stumbling
  6. Lost all transfer case fluid from cracked cover.
  7. TPMS calibration problems
  8. Main HVAC motor (lost it at night in a blinding snowstorm. 15 degrees F, 50 miles from home)

That's easy, don't use Chevrolet rotors. They're crap! Cutting the rotor only makes the problem worse. I gave up, and went out and purchased a set of Power Slot Alloy Cryo-treated rotors from Tire Rack, and problem solved. I even had warping problems with the Wagner rotors.
