Hello,
New user here but hoping that someone could help me or give me an idea of how to pursue and issue with a leak in the coolant system. I am not a mechanic but very hands on and like to identify issues if I can before I take my car into be serviced. I purchased a 2007 Tahoe LTZ about 8 months ago and a few days ago noticed a coolant leak. I have identified the leak in an alumninum line. Basically, from the radiator there are several rubber hoses that run to a manifoild that is mounted on the firewall. From there they change over to aluminum lines and run to the back of the vehicle and I am assuming this is for the rear Heat? Problem is the leak is just behind the front wheel well and seems to have been caused by an electrical bracket that rubbed against the aluminum coolant line - obviously a manufactuers defect but I have searched several forums and topics and can not find anyone that has had this issue. So it seems like my problem and not GM's.
So the question is since this line seems to be a one piece line, can it be spliced in with compression fitting? I know this has to be under pressure but I can not see how the dealer would even replace this line in it's entirety as it would be easy during the manufacturing build. But the way that it weaves through and around the wheel wells and goes from the front of the vehicle to the back and is mounted on the frame. I don't imagine this is a cheap fix and I am dreading it. Any thoughts or ideas. I am taking it in tomorrow but I am not going to let them keep it. No reason as we can still use it for short distances - it takes about 3-4 days to empty the radiator overfill tank so no reason not to use it. I would think that it will take a few weeks for them to order the part from GM as I do not believe anyone would have this line in stock. Maybe I am wrong.

this line will have some pressure on it but not very much u could possibly fix it by cutting the line were the break is located. and find some rubber hosing that will handle the temp and fit over the metal line snuggly. put one end of the rubber hose over one side of the metal line. and the other end in the other side then just use two hose clamps to secure it all together. And as a side note GO DAWGS

I had my father in law take a look at it yesterday and he suggested something similar. I just was not sure about the heat but I should be able to find something to withstand those temps as they are not that high. Thanks again for you welcome and suggestions.

Since it is the heater line, a good quality heater hose should work fine. Use good screw drive hose clamps and make sure pipe and hose is dry when slipping it on the pipe.
