2008 Suburban issues
Had an oil change 3 weeks ago at the dealer, truck has 89k on it.
Found oil on the garage floor and thought the drain plug was leaking.
Take it back to the dealer and they checked the plug and found it seated fine.
The leak was the two transmissions lines to the radiator. Both leaking, said they were corroded and need to be replaced. Now I live in ct,but didn't think lines would need to be replaced in four yrs or 89k miles. Dealer said a very common problem.
And there's more, ,the right front axle seal is leaking like a sieve too.
Now the good and bad, axle seal repair covered under warranty. Tranny lines my bullet to the tune of $550.
So yes I could complain but at lest I wasn't completely turned away by chevy.
Anyone else have tranny line issues?

Unfortunately, it is common for transmission lines, brake lines and fuel lines to corrode in areas where road salt is used. I replaced all of my hard brake lines in my Silverado, as I lost a line while coming to a stop.
It is a good idea to oil spray these parts yearly. I am glad that you found the transmission line problem in the garage, rather than on a long road trip.

I'm a little (no very) suspicious that suddenly you noticed a problem "after" a trip to any repair service. Have you actually looked at the lines ? Corrosion causes pitting in the metal, do they and other metal parts in the area have evidence of "corrosion". 5yr/89k seems a little quick for those items to fail simultaneously. And $550 for two lines...that's steep !
I'd definitely get a second opinion, if you couldn't at least do the lines yourself.

I was suspicious too. So I had the lines that were replaced given to me off the truck. Sure enough, they both were corroded badly.
Glad it was caught now as opposed to a breakdown somewhere.
Chg was mostly labor, 4 hrs shop time was the biggest cost factor.

I'm sorry...
But I can't get past some "conscientious" mechanic pulling those lines around to see if he could get another job out of it (and apparently did). What I would have wanted, is a verbal warning about the deterioration, maybe a personal look while it was up on the rack...BEFORE you found oil all over your drive.
And still, the Axel Seal "just" started leaking, and you didn't see even one little drop of grease on your drive before then.
I still smell a fish !
PS: Mechanics really like those jobs which are Labor intensive.

That's for sure. Just p o' d on the tranny lines being shot.
It wasn't a lot of fluid but enough to get my attention.
Hope the mechanic filled the tranny back up.

Drove it about 300 miles during the weekend and got a call from the service mgr telling me they forgot to put the transmission dip stick back in.
Meanwhile I had driven 300 miles during which time I noticed hard shifting from 1 st to 2nd and a slipping in 2nd. Truck has 89k on it.
Could this issue be related to the replaced lined and dip stick being left out?

It is quite possible that you are low on fluid, as a result of the dipstick being left out. Low fluid would cause the problems you are noticing with the transmission. It is extreme poor service to have this type of problem with a dealer. They should always ensure that they follow proper procedures, so that they do not leave a vehicle in this state. I would pressure them into repairing anything related to the transmission problems, due to their negligence.

1) You won't know if you are low on ATF until you get the dipstick back in, and check the Fluid level.
2) IF you're not low on ATF, then it's going to be difficult to come back on the Dealer for any problems, unless...
The Service Advisor rode with you, and those problems didn't exist before repair, and they do now.

Yup. Trusted they'd do the job right. My fault.
Going to bring it back to see what the issue is and we'll see what they diagnose the problem being.
At least I still have the warranty........hopefully any issue is covered.
