Shucks should have been more clear...How would I know if my antenna actually doubles as a NAV antenna or just an XM antenna....I don't have the OEM NAV unit in there, but I do have XM. Looking to get an Alpine W505 with the GPS , and was possibly wondering if I can use the OEM if quipped.

You cannot use xm antenna they are different! Alpine Nav should come with new nav antenna.

You can go buy a factory GPS antenna if you want and use it. They are around $50.
Personally, I would just use the antenna that comes with the unit you're putting in, and put it in the factory location. Make sure you use the small piece of metal that usually comes with it. It is sticky on one side and usually has felt on the other. this helps with interferance from the electronics below it
