Default 2008 Tahoe Engine Swap Electrical Question

Hi. Thinking of swapping a fully mechanic diesel engine into my Tahoe. Wanting to keep the factory 4l60e transmission. Question I have is what all sensor info does the factory ecm want to think the 5.3 is running? Rpm, coolant temp, oil pressure, battery voltage? What else am I missing. My idea is if I can get the computer to think the engine is running I could use the 5.3 electronically controlled throttle body plate with some linkage to control the lever on the diesel injector pump. With this I could retain factory cruise, gauges and transmission would think business as usual? I know probably a dumb idea but I need another project. Thanks for any input anyone has.

that's a lifelong project. and you would shred the 4L60 apart. Have you ever swapped an engine before, because this is stuff that most trained mechanics wouldn't even attempt.

get yourself some schematics. You'll need them. There's probably a few dozen signals it needs.

It depends on what engine if it would shred it or not.

A small car diesel might not, but that would be pretty pointless as it would be gutless. You're going to need fabrication equipment (plasma or waterjet cutter) to make custom adapters. It's going to cost a ton of money.

I know of one person who attempted a diesel swap. Not sure if he ever got it running. He stated that he would never do it again.

Some people are always thinking on the bright side of life. I’ve already done a diesel swap in another vehicle and it turned out beautiful. It all depends on if you have the brains and the want to if it gets finished or not.

That's not all it depends on. Dumb ideas do exist, and it sounds like you haven't done much research.
