2009 Tahoe Air Conditioner Issue
Hi all,
I have a 2009 Tahoe LS and am having trouble with the temperature setting on the driver’s side. When I move it off of the coldest setting it does not want to return when the **** is rotated back to the coldest setting, it will generally be fairly warm. I have had success turning the **** from warm to cold very quickly, basically slamming it to the coldest setting, will generally change the setting back to the coldest setting, if not the first time after I do it a few times. It will remain at that setting if I don’t mess with the ****.
My question is whether it is the blend door/actuator or the climate control box in the dash?
Any help/experience will be greatly appreciated.

It might even be the temperature control dial, but likely you have an actuator that is not operating properly. There are two, oftentimes three of them, depending on make, model, ect. The climate control unit contains the both the heater and the A/C evaporator, as well as the blend-doors /actuators, mounted on the exterior of the unit.
Thanks.
Actuator issue is not uncommon on these. My 1994 Suburban also had this issue, cost several hundred dollars to fix at a shop. So when similar happened on our 2005 Yukon, I bought the Dorman actuator and taught the Yukon to recognize it.
These days, who in the **** knows where the parts come from anymore? No one, that's who, IMO. It is absolutely, not the days I grew up in, that's for sure.
Times are a' changing, of that there is no doubt in my mind. Carry on, folks!

I figured that my 1994 and 2005 had the GM actuator fail, so decided to try the Dorman. I found the part number on the defective actuator and did a Search for that. Dorman states they try to make products better than factory, and this was also 1/2 price of factory actuator.
I should also state that I needed to grind a 5.5mm socket (1/4 drive) shorter at both ends to get the panel screws off.

My two vehicles had actuators that made clicking noises. On the 2005 also the driver side AC would turn hot, and only stopping and turning off the ignition then re-starting would get it to work properly for a while. Before I fixed this, I just rotated actuator to AC position for driver and disconnected the harness to keep it here, for a year.

I'd disconnect the power, then shoot the **** (if you can pull it off better) with some contact cleaner. Let it dry, then see if that helps with your A/C issue.
