Tahoe & SuburbanThe power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.
So i have a issue with my 2012 suburban 1500 LT. I have a check engine light on. checked the code. it was for oil pressure switch/sensor. i just replaced the sensor about 30 minutes ago. been driving it around. check engine light is still on popping same code. pressure sensor. my oil pressure is low. its at about 19 in park at idle. driving around and cruising its at about 23-25 around 2300 rpms. seems really low. will a bad oil pump still throw a oil pressure sensor code? kind of blanking right now. im not the best mechanic, more of a youtube gets me by kind of mechanic. any help would help! thank you! at idle in park at about 2300 rpm

Did you actually clear the code using a code reader tool or by leaving the negative battery cable disconnected? On our 2014 Yukon I changed out the pressure sender at rear top of the engine a year ago and it's been fine.

I'm not so sure that your oil pressure is low once engine is warmed up. Most figure about 10 psi for each 1000 rpm, so 23-25 psi at about 2300 rpm seems pretty typical. And 19 psi in park/idle seems fine.

So i did not clear the code yet but thats not my worries ill clear the code in a little bit at my uncles shop with his reader. my worries is the low oil pressure. my grandfather was a very good mechanic and ive always learned you want your oil pressure at about half, aka at 40 while driving and 20 at idle

Yeah, 40 psi at 3500-4000 rpm !
I don't believe you actually have an oil pressure problem worth worrying about. That stated: only 2 of our 6 vehicles have an actual oil pressure gauge in them, the remainder just have warning/"idiot" lights. But the two run the oil pressures I had mentioned previously: 10psi for each 1000 rpm.
By the way, were you reading any pressures before you replaced the sender and just had the engine light/code? If so, what were your oil pressure readings then?
