Default 2013 Tahoe Electrical Issues

Having very intermittent issues with electrical circuitry in my 2013 Tahoe LTZ. Noticing volt meter fluctuating from approximately 11:00 to 1:00. Noticed light flickering when meter at the 11:00 position. Recent issue included door unlocking and locking back, radio going off, headlights blinking,,,,,crazy. Service writer at dealership said fluctuating volt meter is characteristic of new chevys, seems to me that something causes the voltage drop, perhaps even defective voltage regulator. Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

Welcome to the forum.

Service writer is correct. The computer controls the alternator output in the GMT900s. There is no voltage regulator per se.

What lites are flickering?

Headlights, instrument panel lights and illuminated buttons for seat heaters, seemed every light was going wild. This lasted about 3-4 seconds. I first thought the engine died but that was the cruise control being deactivated. I'm anxious to work with the dealer for a resolve so I'm making inquiries and making careful observations to share.

My uneducated guess would be a bad battery. How is the vehicle when you first start it up, any hesitation? Maybe check for loose battery cables or damage as well. Good luck, keep up updated!

No problem with starting. I have started a diary to document these issues as accurately as I can. I really want to work with the dealer for a resolve as I know that anything can be fixed. Hopefully, they will welcome my notes and be cooperative in a fix.

Hi, I have a 2013 Tahoe LTZ, had battery issues last fall , got a new battery then about 3 mths later I could smell like acid burning and found the battery had overcharged and acid was everywhere in the battery box. Auto Zone changed it out. Well its been almost a year and the voltmeter starting acting weird, it aways set just at 14 or a little right of it.
But I noticed it started fluctuating below the 14 dropping and going back up. Took it to a mechanic, said nothing wrong with the battery, probably the Alternator. So $200 into an alternator and still having the the radio and gauges rebooting when slowing down and notice it a lot more when the cooling fan for the radiator kicked in.Sometimes you go to try and start and the only thing that comes on is the little engine indicator, does not turn over. Then you can wait for a few minutes and it will start like nothing is wrong. It is at the shop now. The mechanic had done some research on chevy's bulletins, said to clean the fuse box out, make sure battery terminals were clean. He did all this and it ran for about a week no problems and just started back up again. So frustrating, he is going to look at the ignition switch under the hood? Any suggestions?
