3rd transmission in 2007 ltz tahoe 4x4
Not a lot really, I have added a second battery to the empty tray in the front https://chevroletforum.com/forum/tah...ay-3963/page4/
I replaced my oil fill cap with a Mobile 1 5w-30 only cap...
I used to have all kinds of mods on my 93 Step side and a few less on my 97 Tahoe but when i got my 07 Tahoe I found that I liked spending that money on going places and doing things...

this one has about 20k miles on it and the car has 100K. im getting concerned now though because i was driving today and i mashed on it pretty hard to pass someone and it down shifted hard to 2nd and then it spun to 4500 rpm before it shifted and at this point i was less than half throttle so im guessing this one is getting ready to blow.
is it common for these things to go through transmissions like this?

and honestly it sounds like you drive it very hard so that will not help at all
it is not common for these to go out like that - but there is no question the 4 speed in the 07 and 08 is not the toughest out there. it has been around FOREVER and these vehicles put out about the top end of power for it to handle over a long time.

I agree, but still 3 transmissions in 100k miles is a major deal. that 1990 has a 3 speed (I think because I used to have the same exact truck in single cab form), the 350 V8 put out all of 210ish horsepower and about 275TQ vs 320HP and 340TQ for the Tahoe and it weighed 3850 lbs for the short bed single cab vs your Tahoe weights 5200lbs or more easily.
what I am saying is the Tahoe is a different beast when it comes to stresses put on the drivetrain when compared to your 1990 truck. So you cant go "all out" on it like you could the old truck or something is going to break (your transmission probably)
go hook up a 5k load to that truck now and try to keep up on the highway. you will see the Tahoe can pull a ton better even with pulling around 1400 more lbs of its own self
I will admit I did love my 1990 Silverado with the 350 - it was pretty dang quick being a single cab/short bed
