Default 4.8 or 5.3

Found a deal on a 2wd04 tahoe with a 4.8, will I be satisfied or should I stick with looking for one with a 5.3, thanks for any help.

Go with the 5.3. I had the 4.8 and that is the only reason why I traded the 03 in. It is pretty weak.

5.3 would be better IMO. The Tahoe is a heavy vehicle and needs all the help it can get.

I wish the 6.2 was available for the tahoes without having to get a denali or escalade for that engine.

R3.. def go with the 5.3, the 5.3 is barely enough of the tahoe..i would actually say go with the 4.11 rear end, i have the 3.73 and would appreciate a little more power off the line.

i think the tahoe would benefit from a 6spd tranny.. i drove a titan/armada, and honestly that thing moves in comparson (its only a 5spd too)

Welcome to the forum. Ditto on the 4.10 gears. Seen lots of posts re: MPG on this and other forums and the 4.10s usually are getting better MPG. ZX/Dave posted a while back that the 5.3 actually operates init's "sweet" more with the 4.10s.

4.10...dammit, i couldnt remember.

its funny, i remember when i was buying..and i found the exact Tahoe i wanted, but it had 4.10 gears..and i was like..aww i want 3.73...MPG sucks with 4.10.. well guess what, MPG suck with 3.73 too. hahaha... honestly, with 24s..the 4.10s would be a great equalizer to the torque loss.

Are they making a 07 SS? Or are you talking earlier model? There was also a joe biggs that had the 4.8 supercharged, lowered and 20" wheels.
