Default 4l60e Question

Hey guys new to the site. Benn reading yalls stuff for quite some time now. Seems to be lots of knowledge here. SO here we go! I have a 1993 suburban that the tranny is messed up in, my question is will the tranny out of a 98 suburban work in the 93? I know they are both 4l60e's. Thanks a bunch guys.

If they are both 4l60e, then you should have no prob. Just be sure you have a 4l60e in the 93 and not a 700r4.

If you look at the side of the trans on the passenger side, behind the filler tube, if theres a cable running from there to the throttle linkage its a 700r4, thats called a T.V. cable and its the worst invention known to the automotive kind... In my opinion. On the 4l60e instead of a t.v. cable, there should be an electrical connection in its place.

That looks like the cable for a 700. It's a transmission valve cable. It keeps line pressure up in the trans, and is also the reason i blew up 12 or 13 700r4s when i was 16. Hopefully someone else will chime in on this. I don't have a lot of expierience with the 4l60e. But all the pictures I've looked up on google tonight of a 4l60e have nothing like that pic you have, they all have a electrical connection in place of the cable.

I believe that is a 700R4 and not a 4l60E, I think the 4l60E did not come out until late 94 early 95 modles.

Thats what i was thinking to. I'm pretty sure it was late 94, but I have seen many 4l60e swaps. Apparently it's not to difficult. I've never done it though.
