4WD Problems - How to Diagnose?
Hi there, I have a probleme with motor shifter from transfer case Chevrolet Avalanche 2003, NP246 transfer case, I removed it. The question is, if I can run with the car without damage the transfer case. I presume that the fork stay in 2HI position, but without motor and brake it might change position while running and cause damage. Thank you.
My 2004 Tahoe had the same issue. It would go to 4L when I turned it off. I later turned it back on , and then it would go back to normal. If I put it auto it would stay. A new switch did not fix it. I had the front left bearing replaced and now the switch it acting normal again.. Hope this helps..Jeff

My fuse number two keeps blowing every time I put a fuse in it and my 4x4 will not work my 4x4 button has a red light on the neutral section how can I get this fixed to be able to use my 4x4
I hope someone can give me a point in the right direction. My 2000 4wd Suburban somehow managed to put itself in 4wd and got stuck there. All lights blinking in 4wd panel. We pulled a fuse which made the panel lights go off and somehow got the vehicle back in 2 Hi. Now, it is making whirring and clicking noises even when it hasn't been started in 24 hrs. Sometimes, it sounds like it's trying to start itself with a bad battery. It's intermittent, and a little startling while sitting outside next to the driveway at 3am. It's kinda Stephen Kingish, but I have witnesses, so I know I'm not losing it. Also, it wears down the battery, and after I charged it, the lights came back on the panel without the fuse having been replaced. I have a pretty good shade tree mechanic, but he's playing least in sight, because apparently he can't figure it out. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Susan
Thanks,

Probably the transfer case motor. I just replaced mine for the second time in my 2004 Suburban. Fortunately the first replacement had a lifetime warranty. Some videos show how to do it. First failure threw some codes. Second didn’t. Would return to 4wd hi when shutoff. If I pushed selector buttons, they would blink. Sometimes 4auto seemed to work, but never sure.
