Default 84 Suburban oil pressure switch connector

the oil pressure switch connector im my 1984 suburban is cracked causing a major oil leak. the dealer and parts houses told me i have i to do a junk yard or parts car in order to replace the connector. its a part i must pull my self and its too cold for going from junk yard to junk yard...in addition to the fact that it might be bad as well.

is there another fix for this? aftermarket swtich, gauge and wiring?

Welcome to the forum.

I'd remove the defective sensor and replace it w/ a plug of the correct size while searching for a new sensor. Have you tried on-line? If you can get a P/N, it will make your search a lot easier. Your parts dept should be able to give it to you even if it's no longer carried.

Are you saying the connector on the wiring harness needs replacing? I misunderstood. I thought it was the connector on the sensor that was bad thereby causing the leak.

A pair of wire cutters and trip to a salvage yard should yield a connector.

yes the connector on the wiring harness. i did 3 salvage yards this morning. i found one and it was actually on a blazer. only one lot had an older suburban on the lot and there wasnt much left of it.

i bought the one i found and installed it and it still leaking. it doesnt seem to fit all the way onto the switch but it appears to be the same connector as the one that i removed. and i know that some of the suburban and blazer parts are interchangeable.

it doesnt appear to be any damage to the oil pressure switch itself but should i replace it also?

Not sure how the wiring harness connector could cause a leak in the sensor.

Does the sensor not leak if the connector is not connected?

the sending unit is whats causing the leak, an electrical problem shouldnt cause an oil leak...

Switch looks like this, right?

The plastic part that the spade terminal comes out of is not sold separately.
(The part beyond the metal hex)
