Default 96 won't shift to 4hi or lo

Pushing the 4hi button results in only the light blinking and then returns to 2wd. No sounds, clunking or anything. Fuse #24 (FWD) is good. FWD actuator replaced. When bench testing new and old actuator w/12 volts, it don't activate. Where do I look next?
Also, half the lights on the factory radio don't light.Slowly wentout one or two at a time, over about a years time.Common? Repairable?

Go to Ebay find OEM radio and replace, cheap and easy.

Check and see if there are any DTC's present and report back so we can assist you with the 4WD trouble, is the "4WD service" light illuminated?

And also check all fuses in both IP and underHood fuse block with flashlight to see if any are open.

You mentioned the actuator was replaced. Was it replaced the original thermal actuator or is it the solenoid type?

I said solenoid but it is actually a motor. With the original thermal type actuator, the colder it would get outside, the longer it takes to engage (4WD light flashing). With the motorized replacement, the unit engages pretty much instantaneously. See TSB # 76-43-010. I don't have a test procedure for you but the TSB does have some info (schematics etc).

From what I understand, you can also ground one of the pins on the OBD connector, can't recall which one at the moment, and the switch lights will start flashing a code instead of just blinking off and on.
