Default 97 tahoe heat issues

i searched and found nothing. i have a 97 tahoe which will blow air but not like it should. its very light. i dont smell coolant. on high i get crazy amounts of smoke that smell like burning wires or coolant. dont remember. in order to really get heat i gotta go fast (on low setting) anything higher than low it makes noise and smokes out the cabin. is it the blower motor. should i replace the heater core too. are they both hard time consuming parts to replace.

dont know what was going on but i went and fiddled around with the blower motor. its only 50 bucks so i was gonna replace it. i took out glove box, rubber cover and turned it on meanwhile i found a rubber hose that connects to motor to the box behind it. reconnected and cranked it up. all is good. at least for now. see what happens later when i really need it. also i pressed the electrical connectors in which they both moved in a little. dont know if what i did made i difference or it was a freak thing but i got heat. (for now)

My 87 K5 is equipped that way also, the PO tore apart the blower housing under the hood and disconnected the heater core. I installed a small electric heater so I can 4 wheel in the winter.

now its high or nothing. guess i still have to replace the blower motor? theres no gradual change in air velocity from low to line before high. only time air really moves is on high.

Default core

the heater core + blower motor, were fairly easy to get at on my 95... I would assume the 97 is the same...

get some pics!
