Default 98 Suburban A/C High Side Service Valve

I have a leak at the high side service valve. I purchased a new valve but I'm wondering is there any trick to removing the valve. I tried two wrenches and could not loosen it. I'm on the verge of rounding it off. I was going to try a six point deep socket but I figured I better ask first.

Also, if I wind up changing the hose, how to you get to the hose below the drier near the fire wall? The suburban has the rear heat and a/c.

Thanks!

I see my problem. The valve does not split at the nut. I'll see if I can find socket that fits the top of the valve.

The service valves typically leak. A good cap has a rubber seal inside it, that makes the real seal.

Here's an issue I had with an R-12 cap recently, crack in the rubber seal.
