Default Airbag sensor

I have a 2015 Chevy tahoe. The airbag recall work has already been completed. Occasionally the service airbag light will come on. We took it to the dealership and they told me that the passenger airbag sensor needs to be replaced. $1100.00 My question is. Is this a dealer only part/repair?

Thanks! I will do that. I usually fix what I can but didn't know if anyone else had a similar experience.

Not sure at the moment. When the dealership called they simply said... "Passenger side airbag sensor". I will know more when I pick it up.

See if you can get the exact error code, then google it.

They gave me codes B0081 and B1000. I can’t find any fixes online.

Not sure what part they quoted you? i have never seen any aftermarket airbag inflators or modules. If it needs a module; only the dealer can program it.

Mine was the driver side IMPACT sensor, which is for the airbag. I don't know what this one's issue is. It was like $25 on amazon.

Why isn't it covered under warranty? I believe safety systems such as airbags, much like emission control systems, are covered by a longer warranty than the standard warranty. And if it was related to a recall I would be demanding they fix it free.
