any thoughts on synthetic oil and royal purple?

Bob the oil guy is for people that are overly obsessed about motor oil, but what can I say I visit that site at least once a day.
Joe-I had an 09 F150 before I went back to Chevy and it recommended synthetic blend motor oil. I ran the Motorcraft syn blend for a while, but pretty quickly went back to Mobil 1. 5,000 miles is what I drive between oil changes.

2 of my uncles have Ford Expeditions. One is a 2009 and the other a 2010 or 11. Anyway... They both say in the manual 5,000 miles on conventional oil. I dont know how often the 09 gets a change but my other uncle follows the 5k mile oil change...
