Auto-Leveling Feature
Can someone please explain how the Auto-Leveling feature works on the LTZ?? I recently hooked our 3,000 lbs boat with single axle trailer to my LTZ and noticed that the back end still dropped about 1". I was expecting the Auto-leveling feature to adjust for this added weight and automatically re-level itself. Am I off in my thinking here??

RE: Auto-Leveling Feature
Here is GM's description of Autoride:
"
Autoride is a fully automatic ride control system that continually adjusts the damping level on each of the four individual shock absorbers to provide superior ride quality and handling performance. Autoride's "tow/haul" mode
helps improve vehicle body control while towing and hauling by offering
increased levels of damping. Also included with Autoride is automatic rear
level control, an air suspension system that helps keep the vehicle level over
a wide range of passenger and loading conditions while also maintaining rear
ride travel.
Autoride Operation
Autoride uses an electronic control module (ECM) to continuously monitor
brake, throttle and steering inputs as well as vehicle body and wheel motions.
Using this data, the ECM can maintain optimum ride quality by separately and
electronically adjusting the hydraulic fluid flow through the valuing discs in
the shock absorbers. This results in enhanced body control motion and a
pleasing, refined and well-isolated ride."

RE: Auto-Leveling Feature
Thanks for the info ZX, kind of deceiving to call it Auto-Leveling when it only Partially levels the rear of the vehicle. Very interesting!

With a 3,000lb boat it should do a great job so long as your tongue weight is correct (10-15% of the total trailer weight).
You say that your boat is 3,000lb, is that trailer and all with all your toys and fuel in the boat?
I have a boat that the brochure says weighs about 2,800lbs but when I took it to the truck stop and put it on the scale the weight for trailer and all came out to 5,500 lbs. The difference being all the things I mention plus the fact the boat manufacturer lists the boat weight without a power package (engine and drive) installed.
You also need to measure the height of the rear bumper after you have driven a few miles not right after you lower the tongue on the hitch.
Nothing misleading about the words auto-leveling and if you are only getting an inch of drop then the system is working, an inch is not a noticeable amount of drop to the human eye and will also not negatively effect the vehicles handling.
