Default Blower motor confusion

Hello all,

So I need to replace the hvac blower motor on my 09 Tahoe - I found the part number (15-81645) but it appears that I also have to add a blower motor cooling tube (part 20883403) which my current blower motor does not have. I tried doing some research, but I can't find out if I need to add the cooling tube or not and if so, how to do it. If someone could help me with this I would really appreciate it!

Thanks.

Are you sure it isn't a drain hose?

I don't think so. Here is the link to the part:
Amazon Amazon
AC Delco's site said to buy these together and a couple of reviewers on Amazon for the blower motor (
Amazon Link Amazon Link
) were confused as well.

One reviewer for the Blower Motor said that he just made a hole in the plastic duct work for the tube to fit in to, but I don't like the idea of doing that myself...

Does your old motor have a hole in it where the hose should attach? It would seem that if your old one doesn't have it then the replacement shouldn't either. Rockauto has the part number as 1581683.

No hole on the old motor. You are right that 1581683 is the correct part number, I must have posted the wrong one originally. If you look closely at the photo of the connection side of the motor on Amazon, you can just make out an opening on the left near the green paint mark (or are my eyes tricking me?!).

I went ahead and purchased the blower motor and cooling duct from Amazon and it came this afternoon. Here is a photo of the blower motor with the hole for the cooling duct and a photo with them put together. I inspected my old blower again, and where the hole is on the new one, there is a small tube built into it that appears to redirect the airflow back into the blower. I will post a photo of that if anyone wants to see it.

What should I do?

At this point, I would drill a hole in the duct to accept the tube.
