RE: Build Date
ORIGINAL: ZX1100F1
Most of the problems with some of the earlier build units were minor and resolved with software, my wife drives an early build Tahoe (with updated software) and we have had no problems with the vehicle.
One thing that you'll want to do is inspect the condition of the vehicle before the purchase, there can be lot damage, but if it looks good and drives nice then I wouldn't hesitate to make the purchase.

RE: Build Date
Dave,There is no easy way to tell, you need Tech-2 with TIS access to check your software.
If you haven't had the dealer update the software then there may be a few updates available, if everything is working well then I wouldn't make a special trip to get it done, you may also find it very difficult to have a dealer accommodate your request for updated software as it can be very time consuming.
GM will not pay a dealer to update software unless that update address's a specific problem that you are experiencing.

ZX,
I had a recall notice on mygmlink.com for the battery rundown software reprogram 2 weeks ago and then today I went to mygmlink the recall disappeared? Is there a vin range for this issue?

RE: Build Date
The Vehicle Battery Rundown reprogram is not a recall, it is a service update and it only effects 2007 Tahoe's VIN# 7J100002 thru 7J318216 and also VIN's 7R100001 thru 7R350613
If your vehicle's VIN isn't within one of these two ranges then the update does not apply.

RE: Build Date
Thanks Dave. My Tahoe falls within the VIN range. I am just surprised that the service update reminder (previously I used the word recall) notice on mygmlink.com disappeared today.

This is a pretty old post...ZX is no longer on this forum...however someone with some insight may be able to decipher the actual build date.. Chevrolet customer service may also be able too..
