I have a 97 Yukon 5.7 and I recently did a valve job on it and upon starting it i got a code for cam/crank sensor correlation. I realize that i am most likely off a cog with the distributor gear but i would like to check the cam retard. I have an OTC 9450 scan tool and i think i can read the cam retard with it but i am unsure. The reason that i ask is because i am away from the vehicle until the weekend and i have lost the user manual for my scan tool. Does anybody have experience with this?

 

I had a 98 with a 5.7 that I put different heads on and after that I had the same code you have. I took it to gm and they used their TechII and in 15 min they had the timing set. I'm not sure about your scan tool but that's what I did.
