I had to type this in all from memory or I would have had it up sooner.

Always glad to help when I can.

Ok,
I think I got my navi unit all wired. Dont know if it is right, lol.

First, is there only one green wire with white stripe on the back of the junction?

Secondly, I plugged my plug into the back of the onstar brain before I check the wire number locations, I felt the two wires sticking out of the harness. I assume position to the right is 2, and the wire on the left is 4? (EX: THe plug above in this post, looking at it in the picture you count from left to right? Is this a correct assumption when facing the radio feeling from the right to left of the harness plug while it is plugged in?-------These two wires just go into the top two open plugs on the black radio harness???

Lastly, after wiring some weird stuff happened. It told me to press Checkmark to relearn tire pressure sensors??????? Was my negative battery cable off to long, was this something caused my the navigation install? What is up with this?

Also, my left front parking light stayed on? I unhooked the negative battery cable and that solved that problem. Why did that happen?

I headed out this morning and drove the Tahoe to the dealership. I was about 3 blocks from my house and the tire pressure sensors were working again. I have no idea, must have a mind of their own!

Dave, please let me know if I plugged the harness up correctly!

Hey ZX1100F1,

Referring back to that drawing, where it says pin 4 and 5 on the nav radio. Which harness is it referring to for the pins 4 and 5? Is it still talking about "C4? Because it says pin 5 is going to the junction box by the break pedal, how can it be going to 5 in the nav radio too? Are they supposed to be crossed like that? I'm still just a bit confused and so is my installer. I know it's something simple, but what am I missing?

4&5 are the holes in the first plug on the back of your navigation unit. I am pretty sure, . I got the harnesses from jpcustoms. I had no problem splicing into the speed sensor wire and plugging that plug into the back of the navigation unit.

However, the other plug i received goes into the back of the onstar box, and let me tell you there isnt much room to work with and especially if you have large hands. So i wasnt able to see, just feel around on the back of the onstar box. I plugged it in, hopefully there is only one open plug in the back of the onstar box??????? I then took the 2 wires from that plug to what I think are the 4 & 5 pins in the first connector on the back of the radio.

Everything seems to be working fine. However I tried a voice command and I never got one to work. What could be the issue Dave? Thanks.

YEs, JP customs had two plugs. Once of which you have. The one plug single wire splices into the green white stripe wire on the back of the junction, then plugs into the farthest left (if facing navigation unit) open plug! That is done. This I am sure of.

NOw, the directions get crappy from here, lol. There is also included another plug with their kit. It has two wires coming out of it. I assume that is the same thing your two wires are for. They told me this plug goes into the back of the onstar box underneath our radio! That box is damn hard to manuever. I couldnt get the plugs out the back to take it out and look at it. So I felt around to my fat hands capability and got it plugged into an open slot!!!!!!!!! IS THERE ONLY ONE OPEN SPOT on the back of the onstar box??????????

Lastly, I took the two wires from the plug. The called them pin 2 and 4 wires, I think! I had already plugged it in so my dumb **** couldnt see which was which. While FEELING around, I assumed wire pin 2 would be the one on the right (right being as the onstar box sits) and pin 4 wire would be the one on the left.

I then took wire 2 and put it into the farthest RIGHT open pin on Connector 1 on the back of the radio. Assuming again that pin 4 is the one to the right while it is plugged in and facing the radio! I took the wire from location 4, assuming it was the right one and put it into the other open hole which I assume is pin 5 on the same far right plug on the back of the radio.

This is damn hard to explain. Like I mentioned everything works except the voice recognition. So either I did something wrong or my voice just isnt working, or possibly I dont know how to work voice recognition. I would love to have some confirmation on my install and whether it is correct. If you can understand my horrible description please advise.

Looking back at your drawing. You show the nav unit pin 5 on the left, and pin 4 on the right. Is this in the facing the navigation unit position? If your unit was installed in your dash, would pin 4 be on the left, or right of pin 5? ANYONE? This may be where i messed up. I assumed pin 4 was on the right, and pin 5 was on the left.

So, my assumption is that if i were holding that connector in my hand looking down at it starting left to right would be pins 1,2,3,4,5, etc. If i look at it from the top plugged in facing the unit, it would be vice versa, pins starting on the top right would be 1 moving left 2,3,4,5?
