Default Can't get past 15 mph

So I have been driving this suburban for about three days and everything seemed fine. Always driving around 35-45 on the roads around town.

This morning I wake intending to go on a fly fishing trip. I get out on the main road get up to about 35 then all of a sudden it is like I am in neutral. Come to finds out I cannot get above 15 in any gear now.

It like it is slipping and not going into the next gear. There was no sound when it happened and there is no sound like slipping gears, Th RPM's just rev up when it gets to about 15 MPH like you are in neutral.

I see no leaks and hear nothing out of the ordinary.

This is the 5.7L 350 with the 400 transmission. The transmission is a few years old with not many miles on it, around 5-7k is what I am told.

Needless to say, fishing trip cancelled...

So I checked the fluid level and it was really low.

I added fluid at idle when warm to bring it to the "hot" hashmark and it will not shift gears.

Now that there is fluid in it I can tell there is a leak.

Does this mean that I might not be getting enough pressure in the tranny to get the components to engage?

Maybe a blown seal?

Is there any other place it would leak that I need to check..?

Or maybe the tranny cooler in the radiator is leaking the fluid out.

Well, it is in the shop now being troubleshot.

Turns out the leak was not what was causing this.

The only issue is it will not shift into higher gears. Just before purchase the throttle body had been replaced and some sensors were changed out for an idle issue.

It through a code when me and the mechanic were driving it around so hopefully that will shed light on the issue.

Just crossing my fingers that the transmission does not need rebuilding...

Looks like it was the governor.

They said the gear on the governor was stripped out.

They also found the fuel leak so all is good for both problems now. I had started another thread about a fuel smell.

I am hoping that was $500 well spent.

I am still getting code 44 but that will be a new thread if I cannot figure it out...

Does anyone know of a flowchart for troubleshooting the code 44?

Ok, so I now have my Suburban back.

It seems like everything is operating just fine except for the 44 code which I will begin T/S'ing this weekend. I was pointed in the direction of some flowcharts to try and chase this one down.

My next question is what Should I be looking over first to make sure this thing is rock solid before I take it out on some excursions? Is there a magic checklist out there somewhere?

I have a full weekend to do inspections and I want to go over this thing well but also in an order of most important to least important. Ecluding things like fluids, I am on top of that already. I am thinking more of the mechanical side, like U-Joints, tie rods etc...

So maybe the more experienced offroaders have some kind of game plan I can follow?

Thanks!

Where can I get a kit to check the fuel pressure? Vacuum lines have been checked.

02 sensor age is undetermined. I will take a reading of what voltage it is sending to the ECM though. From what I have read that can cause a rich condition.

Maybe I should just access the sensor and do a visual on it?
