Default Clunking noise when transferring from 4wd to 2wd

Does anyone get a loud clunking noise when transferring from 4WD to 2WD mode in the '07 Tahoe. I just bought the car a couple of weeks ago and yesterday was the first time I needed to use 4WD due to the snow storm in NYC. After I pulled into my garage I switched back to 2WD and there was a pretty loud noise. Should I be putting the transmission in neutral before switching?Does the car need to be moving when I do this?

Thanks.

I had a thread about this about 6 weeks ago... Apparantly it's normal. Do a search on it and you'll see the official response.
