Default Couple of questions about a new to me 2007 Tahoe...

I just bought it used and was wondering exactly what is the bug on the remotes. They were working when I bought it last week yetyesterday they just weren't working. The dealer was supposed to check them but didn't. I called over the phone and the service manager said I might have inadvertantly shut it off at the main computer but going in there I cannot see anything where it wasn't enabled. My question is if it does have this problem I read about on this forumwhat fuse do I take out to clear the computer from going to sleep while I wait for my next appointment at the dealer. I did change the batteries on both remotes so the simple isn't the fix.

Also... The dealer said I was due for a 30,000 mile maintenance for my transmission as that's where the mileage is. I've never been big on changing tranny fluid and have heard it both ways. Any experts on this and if it's needed what should I expect to pay if I let the dealer do it.

Thanks,

Guvner..

Try holding both the lock and unlock buttons down together on each transmitter for 20 seconds, the horn will chirp when they re-sinc if this is the proeblem.

You want to change the transmission fluid and filter at least every 50,000 miles if you use the Tahoe for any kind of towing otherwise you can go up to 100,000

It is a very bad idea to neglect this.

Most dealers charge around $100 for the tranny service.

Tried both removing the fuse to the remote locks like an earlier post had recommended. Held both lock and unlock buttons simultaneously on both remotes. No chirp. Computer says remote locks are enabled along with lights and horn. Nothing that I can see is happenning.

I went in to the computer and relearned the two remotes. Both are now working again. Not sure why they would have stopped but they did.

Thanks.. Gary

I used to change my transmission fluid only sporadically until I found out that most extended warantees require "proof" the trans fluid has been changed every 30K miles. I have a 2000 Tahoe that I've owned since new.I've changed the trans fluid every 30,000 miles. It hasalmost 140,000 miles and no problems.

The story about not changing tranny fluid regularly stems from having a hi-mileage vehicle that's never had the fluid change. The seals have hardened and filled with deposits. When putting in new fluid which is fairly high detergency, it cleans out the deposits and then you have leaks. Never tried it but have heard story from different folks.

How do you go into the computer to relearn them.

I did this and they still dont work

Relearn Remote Key
This display allows you to match Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitters to your vehicle. To match an RKE transmitter to your vehicle, do the following:
[ol]Press the vehicle information button until PRESS TO RELEARN REMOTE KEY displays.
Press the set/reset button until REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE is displayed.
Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the first transmitter at the same time for about 15seconds.
On vehicles with memory recall seats, the first transmitter learned will match driver1 and the second will match driver2.
A chime will sound indicating that the transmitter is matched.
To match additional transmitters at this time, repeat Step3.
Each vehicle can have a maximum of eight transmitters matched to it.
To exit the programming mode, you must cycle the key to LOCK. [/ol]
