dash cracked in 2007 silverado
I have had a problem with my dash cracking right by the air as i see others have had the same problem. So what I did was call gm 8667905600 ext 11177 and cmplained . They agreed to pay 50% of the repair which I still unhappy with considering it is an ongoing problem. I feel that if more people called they would eventually recall the dash so anyone else with this problem should also call

did you go to your local dealer? I did that and paid $200 flat fee to get ours replaced - go there with your happy face on and remind the service manager on how so many other people have had the same issue and see what happens.

Lol
ha! you ba$tard, you beat me to it!
Mocking the GM reps is funny... they only know one line. it's like "did you know you can go see your dealer" is the new "welcome to walmart"....
Yea, the 07 dash's crack more than eggs while making breakfast...

those reps are funny - they are on every vehicle forum now also I have noticed...the same canned responces to everything. but in this case going to the dealer is a good idea

well, GM contacted me again saying they would only split the bill. So, its time to get serious. Who out there is ready to file a class action lawsuit? Is there one already started?
Don't get me wrong, I like GM. Thats all I own (and I own 4 GM vehicles), but its this kind of thing that sets me off. If we don't stand up now, all we are doing is letting GM get away with low quality products (and substandard safety). If you're serious, let me know.

If, like many of us, you're just trying to get your deductible for this reduced to an acceptable level (and you've found that GM's District Specialists treat our service requests as if the money was coming directly out of their own pockets), there's still something you can do before hiring lawyers.
Try kicking it up the ladder a few rungs. Write a politely worded business letter to GM Corporate, listing your SR# and dates/times/details of contacts with GM personnel. Definitely include that you're a loyal GM customer, and that you're just looking for something reasonable. Point out that the deductibles seem to be all over the map. Add your phone number(s) and the best time to reach you. Then send it here:

It worked for me. My cost started at the full $1100-plus and ended at $250, minus a $100 rebate they already owed me. $150 out-of-pocket--the price of a tank of gas for the Suburban. But, as 73shark would say, YMMV.
